Murphy Reading is suitable for children aged 4-7 who are beginner readers or who are having difficulty learning to read by other methods.

Basis of Murphy Reading:

1. PARENT BASED PROGRAMME

Over a 6-8 week period working for 15 - 20 mins a day, parents (or teachers) can teach a child to read using the Murphy Reading book (containing words cards) and using everyday household items.

2. FUN AND EASY

Using a series of 30 fun games (contained and explained in the Murphy Reading book children can learn to read in the same way as they learned to talk.... the NATURAL WAY.

3. FULL COMPREHENSION

On completion of the Murphy Reading programme children will be able to read stories similar to the extract below with full comprehension:

The small orange and white cat is on the big blue and purple bed. She eats green jelly babies and red smarties. She drinks white milk. She is beside the small brown dog. He eats orange cornflakes and green apples. He drinks orange juice and water. They crawl under the table beside the wardrobe.

4. START IMMEDIATELY

 

You can start the Murphy Reading games immediately by carrying out the following steps:

a. Click on the video clip of the first game The Sweets Game.

Watch how the game is completed.

Print out the instructions.

Begin playing the game.

b. Repeat the steps above for the The Animal Game, The Who Eats What Game and the Big and Small Game.
